Panera Bread Spookathon Against Cancer
Panera Bread’s 16 owner-operated bakery-cafes in Connecticut helped raise over $21,000 during the month of October 2015 to support local families battling cancer. Panera Bread held its annual, month-long Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign leading up to its 5th annual SPOOK-A-THON family fundraiser, both benefiting the Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer.
For the third consecutive year, the Pink Ribbon Bagel Campaign has received the support of basketball analyst and former UCONN/WNBA star Rebecca Lobo. Panera donates 25 cents from each Pink Ribbon Bagel purchased during the month of October. At SPOOK-A-THON held on October 24, participants “dressed up to scare cancer” at the Halloween Costume Parade and enjoyed other Halloween-themed activities at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT.
Both initiatives raised a total of $21,008 which will help local families fighting cancer through the efforts of the Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer, the Backus Hospital Cancer Center, and Daniel’s Courage which supports SPOOK-A-THON Ambassador, 13-year old Daniel Walsh of Griswold, CT.
